Polyethylene for lining and isolation
The company started the production of lining and isolation film in 1983 by using the technology of (balloon film) with width up to 8 meters and thickness from ( 200 up to 1000 micron ) .
• In 1998 the company produced polyethylene sheets by using (flat die) high technology machines
with thickness range 1mm up to 5 mm and variable materials such as LLDPE – LDPE – HDPE – HIPS
PP – EVA .
• Polyethylene film is treated with carbon black as optical stabilizer with an average not less than 2.5%
and good distribution factor due to its light stability .
Polyethylene is recommended in lining and isolation processes than other membranes because it has the following advantages:-
1- Chemically :
Polyethylene is resistant against acids and alkalis with all concentrations . It is ideal for lining oxidation
bonds because of its excellent resistance against sewage.
2- Mechanically and physically :
Polyethylene has excellent mechanical properties comparing to other membranes such as P.V.C.
and Bitumen,Polyethylene has good barrier properties to water and water vabours, its ilongation
and shrinrage factors are limited which do not allow surface cracks.
3- Hygienically :
PE prevents the growth of bacteria and fungi on its surface and it does not react with drinkable water
So, it is suitable for water tankes and reservoirs .
4- Financially :
The cost of square meter of PE. is much lesser than other isolation materials such as cement and
P.V.C. In addition to that, the daily installation rates are hundreds more than cement rates.
